Secretary
Moves an agent’s notebook between object storage and the folder the agent works in. When an agent wakes the Secretary brings the files in; when it sleeps the Secretary puts them back. The agent only ever sees a local folder.

On the job
- Pulls the agent’s prefix from object storage into $MEMORY_DIR on wake
- Pushes $MEMORY_DIR back on sleep
- Builds the platform environment the agent starts with, including the egress base URLs
Not my job
- Decide what is worth remembering. That is the cartridge’s notebook.
- Decide what a notebook contains or how it is organized. That is the cartridge’s.
What Secretary does, step by step
Bring the notebook in (wake)
Runs inside the agent’s container as part of the shim.
The Landlord starts the container with the agent’s memory prefix and its mind store.
pullMind copies the prefix from the mind store to $MEMORY_DIR.
platformEnv and the egress environment are set, so the agent finds its base URLs and never a cloud key.
The agent starts and sees ordinary files.
Send the notebook out (sleep)
Runs when the turn ends or the container is told to stop.
The agent finishes its turn.
pushMind copies $MEMORY_DIR back to the same prefix in the mind store.
The Landlord scales the agent to zero.
